This is a family newsletter that is sent infrequently to the descendants of the Grimland family for whom e-mail addresses are known.

GRIMLAND FAMILY MEETING.  A reminder that the next Grimland family meeting will be on June 22 (Saturday) at the Civic Center at 403 West 3rd Street in Clifton.  It will start at 10:00 am, and we bring our lunches to better utilize our time.  Wanda and Bill Mobley will bring brisket and buns for everyone; so, bring other items that you want for yourself to eat and to drink.   Everyone is welcome to attend.  The focus of the meeting will be to review the status of our family tree efforts, to determine areas to focus on, and to make additional plans for the Grimland Family Reunion.

GRIMLAND FAMILY REUNION.  The first full Grimland family reunion in about sixty years is still being planned for the National Guard Armory in the City Park at Clifton on October 5 (Saturday).  It will include a potluck lunch.  Additional information will be sent later.

FAMILY HEALTH CONCERNS.  Many in the family have had recent health problems and concerns.  Brief information will follow in alphabetical order.  Especially for those with continuing problems, remember them in your spiritual life and thoughts.

BONNIE GRIMLAND.  Bonnie Solberg Grimland of Clifton, TX has had chest pains, a urinary tract infection, and congestion.  After many tests at the hospitals in Clifton and Temple, serious correctable problems were not found.  After also feeling much better, she has been staying with daughter Joyce David near Whitney, TX

CEIGAL GRIMLAN.  Ceigal Carroll Grimlan of Artesia, NM has been very weak and has had difficulty keeping food down.  Tests are being conducted on her.

CHANDRA HAMILTON.  Chandra Solberg Hamilton of San Antonio, TX has had difficulties with an ovarian cyst that resulted in a hysterectomy, surgical adjustments to her bladder, and cleansing of endometriosis from inside her abdomen.  After several weeks of impatient recovery, she is doing much better.

BOBBY DALE POE.  Bobby Dale of Lometa, TX has had sleep apnea, which has aggravated his congestive heart failure and prostrate cancer.  He is to have 38 weeks of radiation therapy.

RUELL SOLBERG, JR.  During the surgery on daughter Chandra, Ruell of San Antonio, TX temporarily lost vision in his right eye.  After his vision returned and quite a number of tests, no problems were found.

KENNETH WATSON.  Kenneth, youngest son of Aubrey (Buster) and Rhonda Watson of Jal, NM had a bone graft on his leg on June 12.  He had knee surgery last September, and the damage was much more extensive than was anticipated.

OLD GRIMLAND FAMILY PICTURE.  Bruce Wiland has added an old popular Grimland family picture to the Grimland family website at www.grimland.org and would like to identify all in the picture.  If you can help with the names of some of them, you can contact Bruce at wiland@att.net .  He also wants to learn when and where the picture was taken.

UFF DA.  Uff da is an all purpose expression that is not in the dictionary, but it covers a wide variety of situations and is a common slang term.  Uff da is an appropriate comment for the following: noticing non-Norwegians using lefse as a napkin at a church dinner; arriving late at a lutefisk supper and getting served minced ham instead; looking in the mirror and discovering that you are not getting better, but older; spilling glass of milk by a young child at the breakfast table; stubbing your toes on the bedpost during the night; and finding out that someone is not Norwegian.

    Ruell Solberg, Jr.
